Royal Park Rajapruek, also known as the Chiang Mai Horticultural Expo Park, is located south of Doi Suthep and is close to Chiang Mai Night Safari. This Royal Park Rajapruek features a beautiful environment and green grass. The park has a golden Thai-style pavilion which is full of Lanna dynasty features, and there are cute cartoon figures with different shapes of flowers and fruits, and dozens of themed garden venues. Flowers in the park include Thai orchids, Chinese azaleas, Bhutan blue poppies, Dutch tulips, etc.
The International Horticultural Exposition held here is the largest international gardening exhibition in Southeast Asia. At that time, you can enjoy gardening works from different styles from around the world, as well as live music and other colorful activities.
The area of the entire park is very large, and it will be tiring to walk inside the park. You can choose to take a tour bus and stop at major attractions. The tour bus departs every 15 minutes. The fare is 20 baht/person for adults and 10 baht/person for children. There are also 4-seater golf cart and bicycle rental service available at THB 600/hour and THB 20/hour respectively.
Attractions in the park include gardens of various countries, Orchid Garden, Royal Pavilion, etc. Along the central axis, you can reach the Royal Pavilion on a hill deep in the park, which is the most important building here. This palace-style building has a kind of pure northern Thai style. The three-story eaves are exquisite, and the Royal Pavilion is surrounded by a delicate Thai-style courtyard, which is particularly beautiful against the blue sky and clear water. Inside the Royal Pavilion, most of the king’s achievements are displayed. You need to take off your shoes when you enter into. You can walk quietly and enjoy various exhibitions inside.
